How to Hear God’s Voice

  • Why is it important to hear the voice of God?

Jesus says that “His sheep know His voice,” (John 10:17). The Word also says that if you don’t hear God, then you are not of Him (John 8:4-7).

Maybe you’re in that position where you are a Child of God and you are not hearing God clearly. Are you saying, “I pray and I pray and I still don’t hear God,” or, “I’ve tried everything, but God just doesn’t answer me?”

If you aren’t hearing Him clearly, it usually means that you have ungodly spirits blocking your ears and soul from hearing God. These spirits need to be identified and cast out of your body in the name of Jesus.

  • Types of Hindrances

  1. Tormenting Spirits
  2. Religious Spirit
  3. Doublemindedness
  4. Deaf and Dumb Spirit
  5. Spirit of Disbelief
  6. Spirit of Disobedience
  7. Rebellious Spirit

  • Five Important Steps to Hearing God’s Voice

  1. Listening to God’s Word
  2. Receiving His Word in your heart and mind
  3. Seeking the Lord through His Word
  4. Waiting on God to speak to you
  5. Obeying His voice and will for your life

  • Meditate on God’s Word Day and Night

Meditating is the act of keeping your mind and heart on the Word of God at all times. This practice helps you know God’s thoughts on all matters of life, especially His will for yours.

Prayer for Hearing God’s Voice

Lord Jesus, I come before you right now. Forgive me of all ungodliness in my life. I repent of witchcraft, rebellion, anger, unforgiveness, pride, jealousy, hatred, ______________ (List anything else you feel is spiritually hindering you right now).

I place myself under your authority, Lord Jesus. You are my High Priest, Jesus. I am a Child of God. I am under Your precious blood of Jesus Christ.

Cleanse me of all unbelief and doublemindedness. I come against deaf and dumb spirits in my life. I bind them and cast them out of my life in the strong name of Jesus Christ.

Holy Spirit, help me to receive the Word of God. Open my ears, mind, and heart to everything the Father has to say. Give me the mind of Christ to keep my Father’s commandments. Holy Spirit of God, help me to obey my Father’s Word and will over my life.

I choose Your will over mine, Lord Jesus. Your ways are higher than my ways! Your thoughts are higher than my thoughts, Jesus! I come before You in humility and repentance and I turn to You wholeheartedly. Give me an obedient heart and a stronger hunger and desire to keep Your ways and to do only what pleases You. In Jesus mighty name.

Amen and Amen.
