Confidence is a feeling of self-assurance or self-confidence stemming from knowing one’s own abilities or qualities. But what is confidence in Christ?
Confidence in Christ is knowing that because we were created by God, we were made with a divine purpose. He did not design us haphazardly or without thought, but created us uniquely and strategically. Every detail of our DNA was programmed by the creator to fulfill a purpose here on earth.
Knowing that there is no other person with our genetic make-up is mind boggling. Even our fingerprints are unique. We represent a facet of God that no other person does. This must give us a feeling of confidence that we were chosen and created like no other.
Fulfilling the destiny on our lives, though, depends on our relationship with God. Romans 11:29 says that our gifts and calling of God are without repentance. He has placed treasures within us that are meant to blossom in our lives. But if we try to live without connection to our creator, we will never fulfill the ultimate destiny for which we were created. But if we stay in a place of connection, abiding in Him, we can know that He will divinely enable us to fulfill the plan of God for our lives. John 15 says that if we abide in Him and His words abide in us, He will do whatever we wish, and it will glorify the Father.
Boldness is birthed out of confidence. Jesus paid the price for us to approach God’s throne because of His sacrifice on the cross. God invites us to come boldly and with confidence to His throne when we are needing mercy and grace. Knowing that He will not turn us away when we approach Him surely communicates His covenant and commitment to us as His children. As we remember that God has made us in His image, and we are free to come to Him whenever we have a need, we can rest assured that we can walk in this life with confidence. He will never leave us or forsake us!
