““You will be ruined for the ordinary.”
When I rededicated my life back to the Lord at 18 years of age, I noticed something about most Christians; that their revelation of who God is comes from this big turning point or moment in their lives.
- Went to church, “check.”
- Read my Bible, “check.”
- Post a cute selfie with a bible verse to look good, “check.”
- Say a prayer maybe once a week, “check.”
My check list was longer. Growing up I got into the habit of making a checklist to look like a “good Christian.” I thought that if anyone knew I was struggling with sin and pain I would be shamed or looked down upon.
That was a big lie from the devil. It wasn’t until I made some big mistakes in my life that I realized how much I needed God and how much He wanted me back on his straight path.
Everyone has problems, struggles with some form of sin, and has a past.
The Christian life is so much more than just being a good person with a smile on your face who keeps all the rules.
Once you get a true revelation of Christ, you will never be the same. You’ll be ruined for the ordinary. You’ll become uninterested with the things that excite the world. The world and all it has to offer will mean nothing to you.
It will be as the Apostle Paul described it: “Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ.” -Philippians 3:9
My prayer for you this week is that your heart will soften and be opened to God’s will for you. May you see God in a new way like never-before. I declare that your past will not have any power or hold on you anymore in Jesus Christ name! Whatever obstacle is blocking you from being real and receiving complete healing and restoration, be uprooted in the name of Jesus Christ. I pray that you will be ruined for the ordinary that you will only have an appetite for God and His ways. That you will not be distracted by lies but will be guarded by God’s truth. In Jesus Christ name, Amen.”
