“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
All of creation was founded by the spoken Word of God. He brings form and energizes life out darkness by His Spirit. The holiness of God carries the light of life like a mantle over all God’s creation. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. From the beginning God seperated light from darkness. Yet so great is the purity of God’s love that His light shines all the brighter out of darkness. God’s power, glory, and honor is so vast that He is able to use the vacancy of darkness to fill our hearts up with His light to overthrow the schemes of the evil one by simply stating: Let there be light. The light that illuminates life itself is found in Jesus. By obliterating sin and death through His resurrection, we now receive freedom to pull down the blindfolds and let light in.
There is no one like our God. No other could ever sustain or withstand the weight of the glory and might Jesus exuded to overcome eternal division and death for all of humanity. Past, present, and future generations are all sustained by the triumphant love of Christ. While we were found in complete darkness, Jesus ignited the light of life within us that we would discern the sovereignty of God in the midst of tribulation.
…If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”
even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you. Ps. 139: 7-12
When we walk in the light as Jesus is in the light we will not give way to a crippling fear of the unknown. God can use every dark circumstance to bring us to the Light of Life. Jesus said the pathway to everlasting life is narrow rather than a wide gate and a broad road because it takes a child-like faith to say “Yes” to God and “No” to the evil one. It takes passion to love others well. It’s a daily, intentional pursuit to keep believing in the best when in the midst of the marital struggle, financial strain, or when the daily burdens of family life, health, and anxiety consume our minds. It’s certainly more tempting to passively sit back on the sidelines of life rather than stand our ground after the seventh fall. But God is the perfecter and the pioneer our lives.
Therefore, let the light of life consume your heart. May His light fill every corner of your mind and soul. Jesus knows all yet He patiently waits for you to expose the condition of your heart that healing would come through your surrender. Reveal your heart to the One who took on your brokenness and your heartache on the cross that you wouldn’t walk this life in confusion. He gives wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to gain clarity of vision for your life. Jesus is our victory over darkness.
Jesus makes all things new. He swallowed up death and absorbed the effects of darkness to give you life in His light. He will never leave nor forsake you. Press into prayer and believe that He who is in you is forever stronger than he who is of this world. Receive and declare that the love of the Father reigns over every dark moment as He trains you in the midst of the battle.
Do not grow weary loving on others. God yearns to continually renew us by the transforming work of His Spirit. Breakthrough arrives in a heart that is willing to contend in faith by walking out His Word in the midst of darkness. His Word is a lamp to our feet and light on our path. Continue to walk in love because even in darkness, He is your light. Open wide your heart and receive anew the Light of Life!
Prayer: Father, may Your Spirit come upon me, fill me afresh with Your presence. Jesus, may Your light fill every space of my heart that I would come to know the depth of Your love. Renew my heart & mind through Your Word today that I would receive a child-like faith to believe in the power of Your name. Thank you for being the light of my life, that I may walk in victory over darkness. Amen!
