The Path to Healing and Emotional Cleansing

Life can be difficult at times. In these difficult times, we can become wounded and hurt in our emotions. Wounds from childhood that are left unhealed can affect us for the rest of our lives. But God desires wholeness for us. He paid the price for our physical healing, our mental healing and our emotional healing. There is no area of our lives that cannot be touched by the power of God.

How can we experience healing from a painful past? First, we must recognize that these wounds exist and are affecting us. God will not invade our lives and expose wounds when we are unwilling. If we call upon Him to show us what lies in those dark places of our soul, He will come by His Spirit and begin to reveal those hidden things that give access to the enemy and  bring torment.

As we wait upon Holy Spirit revelation, He may bring back painful memories or events. Don’t shy away from these memories, but ask Him to reveal where the enemy has lied to you through the event. He will show you how the enemy has fooled you into believing a lie such as, “you were rejected” or “you were abandoned.” We know that the word of God says in Deuteronomy 31:6, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you or forsake you.” The word is truth. As we understand the lie that we believed, we must repent and break our agreement with that lie.

Even if we don’t feel it, we must do it in faith. Now confess the word of God over your situation. Declare it. Apply it. It is truth. We must allow the word of God to rebuild our thought life over this situation and others like it. It is this method that we can use to get free from every painful and emotional memory and experience that we have. We must stand on the word of God, allowing Holy Spirit to lead the process, so we can be free from the emotional baggage that the enemy would like us to carry.

God made a way for freedom. He made a way for healing. His heart for you is wholeness. Psalm 147:3 tells us “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” We are not left on our own.

Come to God and ask Him to lead you in the path of healing. He calls us to Him. Matthew 11:28 tells us, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” He is faithful to do so.
