…Let all the faithful pray to you
while you may be found;
surely the rising of the mighty waters
will not reach them. You are my hiding place;
you will protect me from trouble
and surround me with songs of deliverance. Ps. 32:6-7
In times of great distress, when all seems to unravel before us in our nation, communities, and even in our homes, God fully knows it’s an attack against His creation. He wants us to plainly recognize the reality we are facing each day. He does not hide in the clouds, He is our most present help in time of great trouble.
This is no longer a time where we can sit behind the sidelines of life and tuck ourselves behind good Christian behavior or to ramble out empty “Christian-ness talk”. It is time to ask God to unveil our hearts before Him like never before so that the fears, doubts, and shame may be swallowed up by His great love toward us and all people. Only through the safeguarding of His love can we do meaningful relationships and do good work.
There is no other god who can father us like He who sings songs of deliverance over His children. Thinking through this thought, how is it possible that the God of all creation and of the universe itself, would have the desire to sing over me? I asked God once, “What does a good father give anyway?” He answered: As your Father, I give you identity and out of that identity springs forth my protection and my provision for whatever may come your way. His sweet attention and care toward me is what melts the hardness and produces a resurrected love within me to believe and to hope for the best.
It’s time to take full possession of who we are in our identity as children of the Most High God. Let your Father sing over you. Day and night He sings songs of deliverance so that when we can’t even talk through the pain and struggle or in the midst of strife and heartache, it’s His song, His words, and His voice we hear rather than our own.
Welcome God, your Father into the struggle. Let Him speak for you. There is no need to anxiously strive because the work has already been done on the cross. Let us rest in the truth of His love and Word in this journey. He is faithful to heal and to deliver if we are willing to trust in our identity as God’s holy possession. Let us take our rightful place in His Kingdom that the light of Jesus would emulate out from us and be the viable solution for a broken world.
Prayer: Lord, sing your songs of deliverance over me. I’m feeling overwhelmed and struck by the uncertainty of life. You say You fight the battles for me. I love how Your song is more than powerful enough to save me and to bring healing solutions for the day ahead. Sing your song Dad… I’m listening and learning to rest in your finished work.
