Resting is a Commandment from God 
The Lord has always been telling us since the beginning of life. When our God, Yahweh, created the world, He took the seventh day for rest. This was also His commandment for us, lasting to all generations. The seventh day means rest in our physical lives.

We also need to rest in order to hear God more clearly and to simply dwell in His presence. It is not easy to seek God when you are stressed or your mind is on other things. It is important to take a second to step back, close your eyes and to just breathe.
