You Are God’s Temple

Do you realize your identity in Christ and what God has made you to be? You are the new temple; God’s Presence lives inside of you. You have direct access to God all of the time because of what Jesus Christ did for you on the cross.

The Bible says that when Jesus died on the cross, there was a veil in the temple that separated the Holy of Holies (where God’s Spirit was) from where man was. Only priests could go behind that veil once a year. When Jesus died on the cross, God ripped that veil, symbolizing that there is no longer a barrier between Him and us (read Matthew 27:45-56).

“However, the Most High does not live in houses made by human hands.” Acts 7:48

We tend to think that the church building itself is the temple of God; that it is the only place to meet with God and that God’s Presence is only found there. God does not live there: the church building, the temple — even the Tuesday night Bible Study. So where is God?

“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.” (1 Corinthians 3:16-17)

When you give your life to Jesus, His Spirit moves into you. You are the temple of God, the church. You don’t go to church, you are the church! You don’t lose God; His presence is always with you.

Ask yourself this: Would you rather have a God that stays in a building? It may seem convenient. You would only need to go when you feel low or need a spiritual boost. But remember this: God cannot be kept in a box or contained.

Being that you are His temple, His dwelling place, a carrier and courier of His Presence, it’s important to realize that wherever you go, He goes. You truly are never alone, but bringing God with you. His Presence changes the atmospheres you enter. He is changing your atmosphere right now.

Pray this Aloud:
“God, help me to be in your Presence 24/7. You are not a “Sunday-only” God. You are with me all of the time. I acknowledge the fact that my body is your holy temple, and I pray that your perfect will would be done in my life. Fill me to an overflowing with your Presence and power today in Jesus Mighty name. Amen.”
