Our God is a God of restoration. Restoration is the act of repayment. With God, it means repayment with interest. God will cause the enemy to pay back what he stole from us. This could be in relationships, finances, health, businesses, and more. Proverbs 6:31 says, “But when he is found, he must repay seven times.”
When Israel continually sinned against God, God made a way for restoration. In Amos 9:14-15, God declares, “and I will bring my people Israel back from exile. They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine, and make gardens and eat their fruit. I will also plant them on their land, and they shall never again be uprooted from their land which I have given them.”
God is a holy God. God is also a loving and merciful God who is ready for us to repent when we have sinned. He is quick to forgive and desires to restore us. When we have opened the door to the enemy by our sin, He will forgive us and then begin the restoration process. Isaiah 61:7 says, “Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.”

Our enemy, the devil, seeks to steal, kill, and destroy our lives. It is God that loves us and desires that we walk in obedience so we can receive all the benefits of the Kingdom of God. When the enemy brings destruction, even because of our own sin and error, God desires to set us free and restore us. Deuteronomy 30:3 tell us, “God, your God, will restore everything you lost; he’ll have compassion on you; he’ll come back and pick up the pieces from all the places where you were scattered.” Joel 2:25-26 says, “I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the hopper, the destroyer, and the cutter, my great army, which I sent among you. You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, who has dealt wondrously with you. And my people shall never again be put to shame.” God is a loving Father who welcomes us with open arms. We do not have to walk in shame, because restoration means being placed in right standing with God.
As we place our trust in God and His word, we will know that He promises restoration to His people. Even when circumstances look bleak, hold fast to His promise. He is faithful to fulfill what He began.
